Rates increases for Hāwea lower than expected

Councillors have approved lower than expected rates increase.

In the final Ten Year Plan, the draft residential rate increase for Hāwea was to be 5.04%. This would have been an additional $132 per year on a property with CV $570,000. Instead Hāwea will receive a 1.80% rates increase ($47 per year on the same sized property). This was approved at the Extraordinary Council Meeting held yesterday.
